I think they are right on time, even early. The current 3D home printers are like very expensive play-doh stuff compared with what for example a http://materilise.com can do for you. It still will take many years before a normal priced home 3D printer will be available.
A “good” one costs now close to 2000 euro, and can do only PLA or ABS. While http://materialise.com can make me a silver metal print for lesser then 60 euro in a very high quality.
