Hints or tips as to what is going on with this printer? It’s a Robo 3d R1+, has the XXL external controller and I used cura to slice it up. I think my filament might be the problem, it’s PLA+, but was left out over the summer and may have picked up moisture.
Any suggestions on where to start are appreciated. I have ordered new filament.
That’s some serious underextrusion. If it was the filament, I would expect it to have jammed completely. Some setting is wrong, or you accidentally dialed back the extrusion rate instead of overriding the print speed. Something like that.
Make sure your extrusion multiplier in Cura is 1.00, check your filament diameter is in spec (within +/-0.03 mm of specified diameter), make sure your filament diameter in Cura is set to 1.75 mm, check to make sure your nozzle diameter or extrusion width in Cura is the same as the nozzle on your printer.
If that’s all fine then try drying your filament. I use this setup: http://taulman3d.com/drying-materials.html
Or you can just heat it in an oven at 50 C. But I don’t like to leave stuff in the oven that long.
If you try all that and still have issues post pics of your new results.
The machine is kept in my classroom and was working well at the end of last year. My worry is someone messed around with my setting over the summer or something. Will see what I can figure out from the links you posted and your suggestions.
Knew I could get some help moving in the right direction here. Thanks again.
@Bob_Rose there are lots of very helpful people here. They helped me get off the ground when I was new to 3D printing. Plus they are usually quick to respond, which is nice. I mean, you posted an hour ago and got multiple responses and even a link to some info. That’s pretty awesome if you ask me. I’m glad I found this group.
@Kevin_Danger_Powers so true, always helpful when I come here for help. Gotta get this part made so I can mount my 360 camera on my drone and make some cool videos.
Certainly try drying the filament if was left out all summer. I had the same issue 2 weeks ago. Tried to print a piece for my mpcnc and it looked more like a fuzzy bunny when it was done than anything functional. A few hours of drying in the bucket (taulman drying idea) worked wonders. First time in 3 years I’ve needed to dry filament.
