They are awesome machines… I just ordered a replicator 2 and got it for a Super price… I will learn with this one for a year then get the the 5th generation
Looks like PLA only.
No auto bed leveling.
Price seems a little extreme.
The new hotend is probably an improvement. Looks similar to the e3d.
I would really like to get a look into the new extruder that they are using and see if there are actually any improvements.
They’re cool looking, I’ll give them that much. But, yeah; those prices are WAY over my head.
Haha. 6k? Omfgstfu
6 grand is INSANE. The cases look cool, but that’s irrelevant
Single extruder only, and the mini doesn’t get down to the $1K mark. It seems like 3D systems is still doing well…
Way to expensive, I use a replicator 2x at work and am disappointed by poor reliability and awful design. Will probably purchase Ultimaker 2 to replace
PLA will always be a 3d printed material. But true, more are available. They use HIPS for the dissolvable. This will only push others to innovate the software toolchain. It is slick. Who else has remote management via an app for any printer? Name one. But you are right, not wasting my money. I bought 6 Ultimaker 2’s because I can run whatever damn plastic I want with a huge build volume down to 20 microns! that is .02! LOL It’s hard for people to hit that reliably.
The new printer from TypeAMachines is also wireless and is only 6" shorter than the z18 for 1/3 the price
Acceptable prices if they performed, but the 2x that I had was horrible, as problematic as any reprap for 1/4 the price. And I’m not alone in that opinion. Not to mention their sue happy nature.
Why would pay 1300 for a printer with the same volume as a $300 model, and not upgradeable.why would I pay $2900 for a printer whose equivalent could be purchased at $700 (or instead of an ultimaker2), and why would I buy the z18 instead of ultimaker 2 2 rostock maxs a and 4 printrbot simples
What I get from this news is that the Z18 comes with a heated chamber. Its price is comparable to the Kühling&Kühling RepRap Industrial which has a smaller build volume.
the Replicator Mini is single colour, has a top resolution of 200 microns and is $1000+. The new Cube 3, also introduced today, is two colour, has a top resolution of 75 microns and is less than $1000
There’s some delta printers with practically the same build volume as the Z18 at 1/6 of the price
Don’t get some people started on the faults of delta’s. Apparently polar coordinates are Fucking evil or something.
@John_Ecker_GeoDroidJ I know, that delta’s are scary, but you could have many many decent printers for $6,000
I like delta’s. I like Cartesian. Right tool for the right job. I don’t think MakerBot will ever sell a delta.
Is anyone seing what Im seeing, looks like an H-bot arangement, maybe even Core x-y? At least for the mini? If so it would be nice to look how they fight racking.
@Luis_E_Rodriguez I don’t see any innvoation in the tool chain - I’ve been able to print and control my printer remotely with @foosel 's Octoprint for almost a year! A $35 raspberry pi and a bit of network figuring is all it takes…
The prices are ridiculous - I can only hope we are seeing them increase with no significant tech improvements because the production volume is so low?
