I know…who doesn’t want a CNC that you hang two bricks on! Actually I think it’s pretty neat and would consider making a smaller footprint just to save space.

For $500 + a couple pieces of ply and 2 bricks, I think it’s awesome.

That’s a cool project.

@Aaron_Davenport

It’s probably useful, but is very slow and has no z axis; you have to manually adjust the cut depth and pull it up by hand to skip cutting an area.

@James_Newton - true, it’s not a replacement for a “real” CNC router table, but I could see a LOT of uses for it… Especially at that price point!

Low price, and easier to store when not using it.

That “easier to store” point is quite good… I hadn’t thought of that, but my tiny home shop might just have space for one if I could set it up on the porch for use, then break it down after… I’ll have to think about how that stand can be folded up or integrated into the porch…

Other random idea, they seem to use some pretty heavy duty gearing on their motors. Most likely to get enough torque out of them to lift those bricks, and I’m not seeing any counter-weights. Wouldn’t a brick as counterweight make sense? From what I see the spindle and motors+drivers are the only expensive parts.

in the comments, they said a Z-axis is in the works and they plan for it to be $60 additional.
