Home Depot just put these on their shelves. 25 lights on an 8’ string. Tried to Google spec’s on them but could not find anything. Any idea what type of LED might be in them and how much control I would have over them by replacing the factory-attached controller with a micro controller running FastLED?

The reviews I read didn’t seem to be that great, with bulbs burning out or failing to operate fairly quickly. What about something like what @DigitalJax used in his recent project that you know will indeed work with FastLED?

Go to Ray Wu’s store on Aliexpress:

and you can find these items:

If you search his store using “Christmas WS2811”, you will find more LEDs like these.

Looks Similar to the ones WalMart had a few years back. That was fun  http://doityourselfchristmas.com/forums/showthread.php?24162-Hackable-Cheap-Walmart-quot-Pixels-quot-an-exlectronic-puzzle/

The string I purchased from Amazon look dual purpose, the second string will be going on the tree outside of I can figure out how to create a candy cane effect…

This year I will complete my built-from-scratch LED Christmas lights for my house – so I can almost guarantee a quicker, simpler way will be marketed by next year!

How about C9’s on 6", 8" or 12" centers. 12V with ws2811 and two 5050’s in each bulb. Location Texas I think. I ordered 250 on a Monday and they came Wednesday (Florida).

There ya go! Mine are more of a “stealth” design though. Even if you know they’re there, you can hardly see them (I plan on leaving them up full time).
