Hoooo boy. Bit of a jam in my Wanhao Duplicator!

I love the belt tensioner!

@Scott_Calkins This kind of springbased belt tensioner is known to introduce artifacts…

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:981670 replace the spring tensioner with this.

Also if you lift the barrel of the hot end higher it will have less chance of twisting like that

Took a bit, but got the jam cleared and everything recalibrated, all in all about an hours work. That tensioner was out of box but I like that other one! Know what I’m doing this weekend!

@Michael_Scholtz Thanks! This was the first time I ever had this happen. Been fighting the past week with some cheap @$$ filament a bud got me to print a Dredd law giver, I finally gave up and switched to my good stuff after clearing the jam, he owes me… Been printing beautifully all night since switching filaments. But when I change filament I’ll lift it a smidge.

@by_XLETTERA PLA and ABS are what I print the most with. Have not yet used Ninjaflex. But I have a need for something with give, so may try it soon.

I don’t miss the late night “jam sessions” I had with my Duplicator i3.
This solved my jam session problem…

@Fabrocat_TM Where have you been hiding my whole life? Or at least the past 4 months since I’ve been printing? I upgraded the plastic lever with an aluminum one and the gripper with an iron one with smaller teeth and that took care of about 90% of my issues. This may handle the other 10%…

Just a little bit of misguided filament. Lol. Kinda looks burnt too.

Actually yeah it was! My primary fan went out, so the filament melted and that’s what caused it. Replacing this afternoon

@Joshua_Donovan - Bummer. Did the fan bearings fail? I have heard some screeching from mine now and then. I need to get some replacement fans and just replace them before they die.

yeah, just been running it too much I guess. Replacement was only a few bucks. Getting everything dialed back in today hopefully.

@Joshua_Donovan - I have been running mine about 18-19 hours a day for over a week to print about 650 key chain tags for an event at my work. It’s a surprise from me to my fellow workers for having such a great year and hitting a huge milestone. missing/deleted image from Google+

Those are looking good! Until this happened, I’d been running mine for 2 week sstraight making a Boba Fett helmet for one of my cosplay friends. Figures that printed perfect, all 14 pieces of it, while a simple backdrop sweep, for myself, fails on this level lol.

@Joshua_Donovan - always. I’m going to do a bunch of upgrades/mods after these are all done and I get back from the event. But now I have to order the fans.
