How do a mechanical engineer who programmes a lot of CNC start learning the electronics and architecture of CNC machines??all the best for everyone
Best way is by building your own machine. But that may become expensive. Have a look at the forums of cnczone, it is full of useful input.
Building one is your best bet. Get one of the kits. What are you trying to achieve?
@Miguel_Sanchez thanks a lot sir
@Dat_Chu Sir I am trying to be self sufficient to be a part of commissioning and service team
@Peter_Fouche1 Thanks a lot sir, actually I am not enjoying being an bystander when something goes wrong and service personnel sort it out
@Peter_Fouche1 can you suggest any text book sir?
@Dipankar_Bhattachary
There is a bit to learn about entire CNC machines. So you have to pick something to get started learning about. There are an awful lot of different kinds of CNC machines alone. One of my cousins owned a custom embroidery business and they used CNC embroidery machines, which I guess are kind of like 3D printers in a way. But instead of extruding plastics they stitched fabrics.
So I’d have to say right off the bat you need to outline what you want to research. Get some focus so to speak. Because CNC isn’t a topic anyone is going to tackle overnight.
Build a shapeoko. This is how I learned.

@Paul_Frederick right now I will like to concentrate on cnc turning and milling machines using sinumerik controls
@Zach_Hipps thanks a lot
@Dipankar_Bhattachary Well that certainly narrows things down substantially. Unfortunately Siemans Sinumerik controls also puts it well out of the realm of DIY CNC too. We’re talking about the rarefied air of call for quote equipment here. I suspect I’d have to be on the edge of unconsciousness to be able to handle hearing the price without going into cardiac arrest myself.
They wouldn’t even tell me up front what used equipment would cost. That is never a good sign! Let me put it to you another way, if you can afford that then you don’t need to know anything. You just need to hire a consultant to handle things for you. Good luck.
