Seems like that

Used an atx computer case

I don’t. I place everything on a shelf under the cnc table. Been like that for years. A little messy but no one touches it but me. Plenty of room. A front cover stops crap from getting in.

make the box out of metal and bolt everything to the sides of the box. Bonus: heatsinking!

@Mark_Leino nice

A old PC case works good for me… I’d definitely recommend a large one! The old little case I used took some finangling And modification to get everything in… with two power supplies / fan / drivers / relay / BOB… Lots of fun!

Yes. That’s what I have, but it’s still going to be a tight fit

@John_Bump I actually thought about that. Even bolting the drivers to the side of an old Dell PC is STILL going to be a tight fit

I can take pics of side and top on mine if you want… kinda ugly, but it works… bolted my motor PS to upper side back, Drivers to side in font of motor PS, with existing HD fan channeled up through drivers / heatsinks and vented through existing vents on top of case. With the case fan, ATX power fan, and a built in fan on the motor power supply and lots of venting up top, maintains good air circulation for everything. I took a old piece of sheet metal to the back and bolted it on to mount the BOB and X,Y,Z connections. I’ll make nice holes with grommets later for the limit / probe / E-Stop cabling later… just want to make sure it all works smoothly before finalizing

@Mark_Leino I actually began spray painting the piece of sheet metal I was going to mount my electronics to with black leak seal. B/c I feared ground loops with the metal.

@Robert_Hogstedt Yours is impressive. I don’t know if I can do that

Check it out. I got some plastic cable glands to hold the wires that won’t be connected with aviation connectors.missing/deleted image from Google+

Nice!!! I’ll have to see what I can find for mine after I get everything going

There are the 4-wire aviation connectors.missing/deleted image from Google+

@George_Allen
Little bit of work on the case… marking / drilling right holes, Zip disk and dremel cutter, bit of Mig welding thrown in for giggles too… it took a bit of time :slight_smile:
I’m also running bit different equipment than what you are… similar, though. I’ll put them on my other discussion

Some stuff came in from China I bought so long ago I forgot what it was. Apparently, it was the Arduino Due I purchased before Christmas and a grbl Controller.
