How many of these little fixes will it take before I can say I’ve paid for my printer?

What the heck is that thing? This is what 3D printers are great for: custom things that are perfect for the job and you can’t get anywhere.
The door rail on the fridge in my apartment has been cracked and weak since I moved in, and has been driving me crazy. I finally designed an insert that I can glue in to splint it.

Do you mean how long does it take for your printer to make up for its cost in printed parts? As you get more proficient it gathers momentum but printing toys of thingyverse wont do as much as when you design and print your own things. A part for my pool that would have cost about $50 i designed and printed high level brake light custom fit to the rollbar on my car probably $60 worth. Velocity stacks for the car to see if I could would have probably cost $150 Samsung galaxy S5 wireless charging cradle I use it daily and would go mad without it, can’t imagine if they made one it would sell for under $40. So unless you bought a stratasys id say 6 months

Nice work!
The question was actually tongue-in-cheek. I have a ton of priceless fun with my printers. I consider the custom fixes and custom parts a bonus.
