How´s everyones builds going? It´s been awfully quiet for a while now… Having problems, need help? I don´t wan´t anyone getting stuck in their builds and putting this project aside.
Ask away! =)
i’ve been waiting for hobbyking to get the bearings, they have been on back order for ages!!
Still waiting my new nozzle to finish mine… 2 weeks now. Be patient, like me
Yeah, just started printing the Rims and completed. made a couple extra ones just in caseGoing to try to start doing the frame this weekend. Still need to get the Bon together as far as nuts and bolts. My son and I are actually building a quadcopter at the same time so the money and time is divided. Good Tim’s
Pascal I just had my nozzle clog printing the rims. I took it out last night and I had an extra one so I really wasn’t down that long. But I got a propane torch, some alcohol and a piece of wire and unclogged the nozzle. Good times
where to get the ball joints for the stearing?
and is there a BOM for bearings from Hobbyking?
Thx a lot
Yes, I am trying to get a stp viewer so I can figure out the bom for nuts and bolts, but didn’t even think about bearings. Anyone have a list of the nuts and bolts also?
Seems easiest to just buy a bunch of the M3 sizes of the Flat Head Socket Cap and Socket Head Cap variety from the 6mm through 12mm length. They come in packs of 50 or 100 from McMaster. Bearings are all 5mmx10mmx4mm 8x and 10mmx15mmx4mm 10x (sizes are correct, but I can’t remember the exace #).
I’ve noticed that with my replicator 2 the Diff Case is a bit too shallow to hold all of the gears. I ended up having ~1mm gap between the diff case and its mating gear. I’m not sure if this is a result of printing in PLA vs ABS, but it is noticeable. Since all I have is Solidworks, I’ve been redesigning these components to accommodate for this, but it is a bit of a pain since I have to basically re-design all of the components in Solidworks so I can get the parts to fit into the housing. If there is some repository of solidworks OpenRC files that I could contribute to or use it would be appreciated.
I have most of those pan head screws left over from my printer build, but need some countersunk screws. Also looking up those bearings they are in dimensions as follows: IDxODxWidth, Correct? i think so because i have found some bearings for traxxas with these dimensions.
THanks
That’s correct IDxODxWidth. I couldn’t find a good online source. Didn’t have much luck on McMaster (can’t remember why exactly, probably bearings were too small) and they were pretty pricey on Amazon. So I just got them from Hobbytown USA. You may also have some difficulty finding good shafting. 2mm and 3mm SS shafting is pretty expensive on McMaster for what it is, so I went with 1/8" and 5/64" SS shafting, which seems to fit and costs about half as much (items 1263K41 and 1263K27).
i finally got all my bearings and drive shafts, and my bloody cheap ebay wheels and tyres are too small, LOL but i think i can print a set that will use the same tyres till the real ones get here. man those brushless motors are fast!!
