Interesting. There is even a Shapeoko v2 ‘upgrade’ option.

Wow, nice and clean all around. I see several pieces I’d like to transfer over to my SO2
Ditto. The only part i’d like get is the X-Carriage. Everything else could be fab’d.
I wonder if the 48V quiet Spindle (52mm) they used to seel with SO2 will fit into that spindle mount ?
Also why is the Limit switch kit only have 3 switches and not 6 ?
I’m curious how (if?) they solved the 1000mm gantry twisting issue. It looks like there is still a gap between the maker slides and the fact that the carriage is directly compatible tells me the spacing is the same as the current one.
I’m guessing they are more of a home switch than a limit switch although they’ll obviously do min limits. Seems silly not to add 3 more switches though for the max sides.
I can’t believe they released a shapeoko 2 upgrade that big before the shapeoko 3 came out.
If I had to guess it’s a way to keep the SO2 framework alive for Inventables after the merger with Carbide since they’re responsible for the SO3. That’s just my speculation though.
i’m really excited about the way they are approaching this. it has all the hallmarks of a company that is listening. i like the new carriage hardware. i like that they are selling a limit switch kit, but the g-shield doesn’t have the right circuitry to be able to handle them. very nice looking machine.
X-Carve != ShapeOko
ShapeOko = Edward
X-Carve = Bart {Inventables}
ShapeOko 3 != MakerSlide
Can anyone fill me in on the departure / separation of the two companies?
