I am still using my Prusa style i2’s many mods the printer was able to do to improve itself. My icon is a Core xy printed on an modified i2.

I always drooled over those I2s , especially the clear acrylic ones, I once saw one with really subtle lighting and it blew me away!

is the huxley old-shool already?! i never stopped using mine but thee is very little left of the original in it other than the axis steppers, the bed and the glowing blue fan:-) now its got dual metal j-head extruders, folds flat (foldarap mod on thingiverse), and beefed up 8mm rods and bearings on the x-axis and 6mm rods and bearings on the z…prints as good as anything out there. the huxley is my canvas. the limitation of its size, informs my design concepts even though i have a makerbot sitting right next to it. long live the huxley!

Absolutely Onyx, my article was trying to say that these machines with a little love and care can compete with any other the current generation of machines. I was really impressed with the quality I got out of it once I spent some time on it, and its so quiet too! By the way, I’m loving the stuff you’re doing with conductive materials, it’s really inspiring!

thanks! glad to see that there are others that have such an emotional attachement to their huxley as i do. if im not mistaken, rich raps first reprap was a huxley as well

Hey Colin, thanks for an inspiring article. I was just last night moving the box containing my Huxley upstairs to go into the attic, I have to say I have reconsidered after reading this. It’s good to know there are other enthusiasts out there using them.

Thanks Jerry! My advice is give it another shot, there’s life left and plenty of opportunity in the Huxley as a platform!
