I am a little confused as I try to build the Truggy.
I am using http://grabcad.com as the source for the build files,
specifically, https://grabcad.com/library/openrc-1-10-3d-printable-rc-truggy/files#
and choosing the: OPENRC Truggy Assy.B.3.stp file as my source file.
I do notice that it says it was last updated 10 months ago, so I am not sure if this is where the most recent version is
located, for instance, I do not see anthing here on printing the rubber tires.
Assuming this is the right file, I now have printed a bunch of parts, and am looking closer at assembling them.
I have printed the Rim’s, and it appears to me that the Drive Axle is the part going through the center of the Rim.
I have printed this, and it is a 4mm diameter part at the end.
On the outside of the Rim is an outline for a nut. As per the Assy file, this is listed as a:
Hexagon Nut (Style 1) ISO 4032 -M4
So it looks like I need to thread the end of the Drive Axle to M4.
If the above is correct, then my confusion is that I have been looking at bryancostanich BOM at:
https://github.com/bryancostanich/OpenRC/blob/master/Truggy/BOM.md
and it only lists (26) M3’s and no M4’s, was this just missed?
The bearings that go inside the Front C-Hub’s, left and right, are Bearing 5X10X4
that’s 2 per Hub X 4 Hub’s = Qty. 8 Bearing 5X10X4 are needed for the wheels.
I don’t see that size on the BOM.md file, just (8) 3x10x4. Do we just need
to update the BOM?
Thanks for the help!!

Hi @Eric_O

Your right, the file you refer to is the latest release. The tires are not yet added to the (released) main assembly. I have uploaded an early version of tires on Thingiverse.
I´m currently updating some of the parts and the main assembly. I will release new files and a list of the updates made but i´m not sure when i will release them, i need to check everything first. I can give you access to it at it´s current state if you like, then just send me your email but keep in mind it´s not “validated” yet.

I need to check the bearing in the BOM, but it will have to wait i´m at work atm.
And yes, you need 4pcs M4 nuts. One thing to keep in mind though, the outer drive shafts are not meant to be printed.

Thanks Daniel, I am hoping to get this all figured out and built!
Here are more questions about the build:
By the outer drive shafts, I think you are referring to the subassemblies labeled:
Rear Central Drive Shaft Assy, and, Front Central Drive Shaft Assy
For the Rear Central Drive Shaft Assy, I tried measuring the sizes in the CAD program, and to confirm, I get:
qty 2 : 10mm long x 2mm diameter pins
For the shaft I get : 84mm long from center of pin hole to center of pinhole in a 5mm diameter rod,
with the hole for the pins 2mm diamater, plus a guess of extra material on the ends past the pin hole, say .5mm
so the total shaft length would be 84mm + 2mm(for the 2 radius of the holes) + 1mm(for the end past the 2mm holes)
= 87mm x 5mm shaft. Is this correct?
I just received some steel 5mm rods, and will try cutting them
and then drilling the 2mm holes in each end. Cutting should be easy, not sure about the holes. I also
noticed on the CAD drawing that the rods are not round, but actually have flat sides. I am hoping that
is just how you created it, and fully round 5mm is OK.
For the Front Central Drive Shaft Assy, I got a 79mm shaft length between the holes X 5 mm rod.
With the pin holes again at 2mm diameter apiece, or 1mm radius times 2, add 2mm
plus another 1mm for .5mm past end of hole each end = 79 + 2 + 1

= 82mm x 5mm rod for Front Central Drive Shaft. Is that correct?
On the Front Assembly, and the Rear Assembly, these contain 2 CVD Driveshaft 118mm Assemblies each
The CVD Driveshaft 118mm Assembly contains:
Qty 1 : Drive Axle, which I have printed (ABS) and plan to thread so that I can attach the M4 nut to it and Rim (correct?)
and a Driveshaft Assembly that contains:
qty 2 : 10mm long x 2mm diameter pins, which I will cut from 2mm stock metal
qty 1 : drive shaft coupling, to be printed (ABS)
qty 1 : Drive Shaft, also to printed (ABS), I don’t see how I could make this from my metal stock
given the rounded balls on the ends, correct?
Also, what does the “118mm” in the CVD Driveshaft label refer to, can I ignore that since I am printing all these parts.
Thanks again for a fun project.

Regarding the central driveshafts i cannot confirm the measurements right now but it sounds about right. In the upcoming update the central diff will actually be centered and the driveshafts will have the same length.
A Ø5mm rod should be ok.

The CVD:s are not meant to be printed, you need to source them from somewhere. Check previous discussions in this community. Let me know if you have trouble finding it.
