I am absolutely in love with my R7! The blue glow on the left are inserts and they fit so perfect without having to glue them, I taped them in with a small Jewelers hammer. This machine is so percise when you have it dialled in properly.
What is it an insert for?
That’s cool. What program are you running?
@Randy_Grolemund the inserts are blue glow that go in my logo of that multitool, the glow is pretty much just for the cool factor lol. The multitool has a small pry bar, phillips screwdriver hex bit, wrench sizes from 4mm to 11mm, bottle opener and the glow is good for if you drop your keys in the dark.
@Edward_Bigham I’m using Fusion 360 and sending code with http://cnc.js
I need to build a table for mine. I have done all I can without mounting it to the table.
+Edward Bigham I mounted mine to a 4x4 sheet of MDF and have a 3x3 piece between the rails for the waste board. I use 2 sides tape from Menards to hold it down. I have it all sitting on my old kitchen table lol. Works great
Nice inlay work! I have some shell to do soon.
@Colin_Kaminski Thanks! Good luck!
@Nukpruf I have picked one of these bits. I am scared to death to break it so I am waiting till I have some more experience but the pro just is due in the end of February.
pro just = project
@Colin_Kaminski I used a 1/32 diamond pattern bit from drill bits unlimited to do the cut out of the logo. It was $3-$4. Cutting 100% carbon fiber had to go slow but it worked out good.
Can you provide the feeds and speeds and depth of cut? I am thinking for shell I need to cut 1/2 the diameter of the bit each pass and cut slow. I might end up spraying water.
@Colin_Kaminski Ok but your going to think I’m crazy lol.
Feed= 1 in/min
Spindle speed= 20000
Depth= .01 in per stepdown
I am sure you could run half the diameter of your bit as a plunge and 100mm/min as a really slow feed.
@Nukpruf I love to see the things you are making. You have a site? Sure the boy and I could use some of your cool gear!
@Brandon_Satterfield Hey Brandon thanks! I don’t have a site yet but I’m working on it. Right now I just sell through Instagram @nukpruf but when I do get the site going I will be sure to let you know
How have you been going about setting Z zero on cnc.js?
@Austen_Greene Jog your machine to where you want it set to zero (x,y and z) then at the top right of cnc.js it says “work position” and just to the right of that there is a drop down arrow. Click the arrow and choose “Zero out work position”
That’s awesome! Glad you are getting good results out of your machine!
