I am currently looking for an intermediate 3D printer and I was wondering if anyone could help me find what I’m looking for. These are the specs I’m interested in ; price range $1000 -$2000, heated build plate, self leveling, automatic nozzle clean, and multi material capabilities. Any help is appreciated!
And anything found yet? Cause I am also curious
I haven’t seen hardly any printers do auto nozzle cleaning aside from the Lulzbot Taz 6. If you want to drop that option check out the new Prusa I3 MK2. If you’re really crafty you can add a nozzle cleaning function. I had one for a while and will be adding it back.
Printrbots handle any material. The Plus fits the bill $1300. 10x10x10". Not sure what you mean by automatic nozzle cleaning. If you want a physical nozzle wipe on a silicon pad or a brush, you’d have to add that in one corner and add the gcode to your starting gcode. I’ve never felt that was any benefit.
You may consider the Lulzbot Taz mini- good reputation… Not sure on specs.
Agreed with Brook. Love Printrbots as well and if you think you’re gonna be printing anything large it’s hard to beat the Plus. Especially for $1200. The new I3 MK2 is cool if you want printed parts as a structural component but the Plus has a more solid and professional look and feel.
Nozzle wipe isn’t bad to have but I never really have an issue without it. I’m just going to add it because it occasionally helps
I’m with @Brook_Drumm on liking Printrbot & Taz and also Ultimaker 2
I’d go with a Rostock Max - add an E3D, BondtechQR, and the FSR kit from ultibots. Huge build volume, any material, and auto-leveling, and you’d be under $1500.
Check out the CEL Robox.
Does the Prusa MK2 have a wipe feature? Under a thousand I believe, but only printer I am aware of using the new mesh auto-leveling they implemented in a fork of marlin.
Other then that I would pick the TAZ Mini or at the high end the new TAZ 6.
I think other printers have auto-wipe or cleaning implemented, but there was always something I didn’t care for in the reviews I saw, so the names don’t come to mind.
All solid suggestions!
Okay so I’ve been doing some research and the taz machines look promising, but it sucks you have to leave the laptop plugged in during the entire print.
The printrbot plus is probably my favorite so far. The only thing I’m worried about is the full enclosure. Is it hard to get to the servos if something goes wrong?
Also yes I agree, solid suggestions
@Brian_Taylor nope pretty straightforward. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9oj0J-4qhdjdHIzTHQySjJEQkE/view guide is nice. I’ve always enjoyed my printrbot stuff.
That guide may have changed a little but for the most part it should be good. @Brook_Drumm is definitely the one to tell you for sure.
I am pleased to announce that I’ve just purchased the printrbot plus!! It has just about everything I was looking for except for the nozzle cleaning feature. But with more research, I’ve determined thats more of a gimmicky add on anyway so I was fine with compromising. I’m also pretty stoked to have the ability to upgrade it to a dual extruder. And as if all this isn’t already enough, I was able to purchase one for under $1000, with their special dent and ding sale!! Again I’m very thankful for all of your responses, and honestly I had no idea @Brook_Drumm was associated with printrbots until now. This in no way altered my decision, but it’s really cool to see that he’s involved with the community!
I can’t recall ever hearing anything bad about Printrbot. I am sure you made the right choice for your needs.
@Brook_Drumm does an awesome job at just helping out with anyone on the community. When I first joined this community he commented on a lot of my posts just as an aid, but like you said I didn’t know he was affiliated with Printrbot. Really love his passion to drive the tech and not limit it just to printrbots.
Congrats on the purchase! You wont be disappointing.
Welcome to the family! I was just working on some dent and sings today. Many are untouched and don’t need work but we torture test them anyway!
Enjoy.
You know where to find me
