I am having issues with my Printrbot Simple Pro. After a long (27 hour) print, the extruder started to make a clicking noise, and will not feed the filament consistently. Does this sound like the hot end is jammed? And what can I do to fix the issue? @Brook_Drumm1 ???
Wow! That’s a long print
Try a few degrees hotter for the material your using. You can change that in the cloud under the materials tab. Also, what resolution? Going low resolution (.2mm layer height) might speed it up if you aren’t already using it. What material?
I was running at .2mm using the settings for Printrbot PLA, but using a generic PLA filament. Also, any word on when the heated bed and USB/Cura for windows will be released?
Oh, the printer did handle the 27 hour print like a champ!
Agreed with @Brook_Drumm . Start with upping the temp by increments of 5c. If it’s just jammed you won’t be able to extrude any out. In that case do a cold pull and try to get what is blocking it out. Awesome on your part to do such a long print! Still saving up to pick a Pro up.
That was the first time I have ever printed over 12 hours. Was a little nervous having it print while I was sleeping, but as a safety measure, I placed a smoke detector directly over the machine.
When I got my i3 clone I “tested” it with a print of BayMax. 30% infill and 200mm tall, 65 hours later he stood towering over all!
OK, thanks are in order. I had to raise the temp to 220, and it finally melted out whatever was partially blocking the hot end. All clear now, and started printing another 24+ hour print. I do like this printer! Once I figured out that a sheet of buildtak with a light dusting of hairspray eliminated all my warping issues, it is now a pleasure to print with. For larger prints I have my Wanhao Di3, and am thinking of building a 500mm X 500mm X 500mm printer with a volcano hotend.
My longest print was 46 hours and I regularly print overnight on my Anet A8.
@funinthefalls buildtak is definitely the way to go, fixed my adhesion issues.
I have different issues with buildtak - too good adhesion
Printbite > Buildtak. Buildtak wears out, Printbite doesn’t. Also has none of the over adhesion issues that Buildtak has. I managed to destroy the Buildtak I had very quickly, I’ve had a sheet of printbite on one of my machines for a little while now and once I got temps tuned, it just works, clean it once in a while and that’s it.
Issue came back…looks like it is a problem with the feed gear, it is all broken up. Will have to order a new one.
Way to hang in there!! Glad you found some solutions
