I am just getting started here on this awesome truggy (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:42198), trying to build it with my kids.

I’m trying to assemble the Central Differential Assembly, however the holes in all my printed gears seem to be waaay too small.

E.g., the 3mm x 8mm rod really does not fit, and when I hammer it in, it goes in askew so the gear wobbles when I spin it. The M3x8 screws are too large, and when forced onto the sun gear / axel shaft, they are off-center too, etc.

Am I doing something wrong?

I’m using the new Taulman 910 filament … it’s supposed to be very strong and have very low shrinkage. I print at 0.2 mm layer height.

Thanks for this wonderful project!

I had to use a drill bit to enlarge the holes slightly.

@Michael_McCandless sounds like your overextruding. Everything in the diff is tight but it should not be like that.

Thanks @John_Seaton and @Daniel_Noree , I agree it should not be crazy-tight … over-extruding is a great theory! I will try to calibrate my printer (it’s a FlashForge Creator).

I did try to use a drill-bit to expand the holes but this Taulman 910 is VERY tough stuff and hard to wiggle a drill bit through by hand…
