I am making all metal extruder.

I am making all metal extruder. But the filament (PLA) is getting stuck due to thermal expansion.

Now the question is How to create thermal barrier in all metal extruder?

FYI, I am using SS for barrel, Brass for nozzle and Aluminum for heating core.

You need the stainless barrel turned down to be very thin just above the hot zone, and an aluminum block with active cooling above that.

The nice folks from E3D publish drawings of their hotend, which you can use as an reference for what yours should ideally look like. Keep in mind that their license restricts use to non-commercial applications.

@Whosa_whatsis Thanks for the pointer, Based on your input I have found this (http://hydraraptor.blogspot.in/2009/03/rheology.html) by +nophead. I will try this.

Aluminum block with active cooling above that: This mean I need to add a fan to cool the SS barrel above Aluminum block, am I correct

@Thomas_Sanladerer Thanks I found it. any way I am going to use it for my use only.

Yes, you need a heatsink of some sort (usually aluminum with fins) on the top part of the SS barrel, and something (usually a fan) to actively cool that heatsink.

Thanks @Whosa_whatsis for the help
