I am new to the 3D printing and I need help. I can’t get our MakerBot to print from a USB. I am working with 3rd and 4th graders. We have been printing from what is already loaded on the MakerBot, but for some reason saving work from Tinkercad as STL and OBJ will not work. It will recognize folders on the USB, we can not print. Any suggestions?
You will need to “slice” the model files into print files before the printer will read them. The slicer program converts a 3D model into a series of commands for the printer to execute. (Heat up, move here, extrude this much, move there, etc.) For a modern Makerbot (I’m guessing you have a Replicator 5th Gen?) you should be using Makerbot Print for your slicer.
And good job getting the 3rd and 4th graders into it by the way!
@Ryan_Carlyle Thank you for your help. I will give it a try.
Found out our firm ware was not updated. Once that was updated, the slice error message stopped and we were able to print. Thanks to all for your help. It help us investigate what was going on with Makerbot print.
