I am printing a train, this is the track
That looks like a wider gauge than I’ve ever seen.
I’ve often wondered about printing landscaping for a model railroad from topological data. Say, in segments and then stacked like Lego. It never occurred to me to print the tracks as well.
I’m also going to be printing railroad crossing signs for the crossing
@Dale_Dunn I think train components and scenery (buildings and structures) are perfect uses of a printer. Topo stuff could be done but it’s so easy to build w/ foam I don’t think it’d be worth the cost. Unless your building an exact scale replica of a scene.
I think of things like stone retaining walls or bridges (steel or concrete). It’d also be great to print molds for plaster casting some of those features.
Most model railroad tracks (rails) are metal as that’s how the trains are powered and controlled. Guess you could have battery powered trains or print the rails from conductive materials (would have to be multi process printed)
Thats really cool, but if it isnt a standard gauge you should think about making it so.
