I am trying to find the adequate feed rate for engraving.

I am trying to find the adequate feed rate for engraving. Maybe I need to change more parameters. Your help and comments are welcome

What is your PWM period set at in the machine. Try even slower speeds, 300 mm/sec. Try pwm periods of 200.

What kind of laser is this? diode or CO2?
what power are you using at each speed?

5w diode laser (aliexpress)
Laser raster from 0% to 100% power

That looks like your laser head is not capable of PWM modulation. Can you post a picture of the Laser?

Ok, your laser driver is looking like a typical TTL driver. Was that deliverd with the laser or did you add this driver?

Some laser modules already have a constant current driver cast into the cooling block and do not work with a second TTL driver in front of it.

To get better grayscale results, you should find the maximum power which don’t produce a mark and the minimum power to get complete black. These two values shuld be used as min and max power in the LW4 raster operation. This basically spreads the small range of grayscale from your tests to the whole range of white to black in your picture. This has to be done for each material.

@cprezzi thanks Claudio, I bought the laser and the driver in aliexpress, and the ACRO system with board (CNC xPro) and motors from Openbuilds

@Gerardo_De_Nicolas This looks like the same laser and TTL controller I bought. Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem.

@Nick_Marino_NIX I bought a PWM capable laser in JTech, but the solution from @cprezzi is great, maybe you should try it, and please share your results

@Gerardo_De_Nicolas Yes I will give that a try.
