I am very happy with my dolly. But the Prusa extruder,
So after some ugly artifacts in my prints, that could only have come from this extruder, I went looking for an alternative.
The best is probably a bond tech one.
But the cost is way too high for me.
So, what now? I still had some Printrbot extruder gears, and though I didn’t have much succes with them a couple of years ago, I thought I would try these out in a design of my own making.
Have not printed with them yet, but the first results do look promising.
Take a look at the photo of the filament after it went through these gears.
Next step is to replace the old extruder, and try printing with the new one.
Nice one.
Bondtech sells gears sets as well if the Printerbot gears don’t work out.
@Craig_Cavanaugh Yes, I know, but $50,- for a couple of small gears? The Printrbot gears are $ 25,-
I have the gears too but don’t like the idea of not having a quick release!
@Liam_Jackson No need for quick release. Just pull.
Bondtech’s gears are hardened steel and they don’t rely on compressing the plastic to positively engage the material.
@Jeff_DeMaagd Okay, did not know that. But how about these Printrbot gears? @Brook_Drumm1 ?
Aaaand… it works!

@Rien_Stouten if my gears don’t work, I’ll refund the money

The design files need some work, I will post those in a couple of days.
Sweet!
