I am wanting to purchase an Ultimaker printer for classroom use.

I am wanting to purchase an Ultimaker printer for classroom use. The school’s financial officer is having problems with an international purchase. Is there a USA vendor that sells these printers and has them in stock. I have googled without much success.

Thanks in advance.

According to the FAQ on the Ultimaker website: “I would like to distribute the Ultimaker, what can I do?
We will be interested in working with distributors once we’ve ramped up production to a level where we can satisfy demand. When this is the case, distributing via distributors is a good option. Before that, we prefer to ship directly to the end users, because we can sell every kit that we’re producing.”

Why don’t you consider a domestic alternative? The MakerGear M2 is in no way inferior to the ultimaker (my opinion, but compare for yourself), and it’s cheaper. I have an M2 and I’m very pleased with it.

I have an M2 for my classroom and it works quite well for what we do. I think it is a good alternative.

Thanks for the suggestions…today I found out that the school finance rules have actually done me a favor. It turns out that Makershed will be selling Ultimaker printers at the Maker Faire New York in a few weeks. So…I’ve always wanted to attend a Maker Faire and now it looks like I’m going  Woohoo!

Excellent!

This is my 4th year going and it’s always a ton of fun… Last 2 years have had Ultimaker founders there, too…
