I built a Prusa i3 reprap kit yesterday and I’m having some issues. Any help is appreciated.

I received the kit in the mail yesterday and spent nearly 8 hours building it. When it came to the wiring I was completely clueless (there were not instructions in the kit, let alone for the wiring) so I turned to a video from the internet and wired mine the same as the gentleman in the video. When I plug the power cord into the wall and press the on switch, nothing happens. No lights, no movement, nothing. Ive called numerous printing shops, posted on Facebook, Reddit, and even e-mailed one of my teachers who owns 2 printers. I am not able to get any help so far and ANY advice is appreciated. Thank you all so much!

Post a picture of how you wired your power supply and the controller board

@C_Ace I was able to fix that problem, although now the printer won’t heat up (extruder or heated bed. Any suggestions?

Check the power supply for a switch for 110 / 220 volts - likely set to 220 and therefore low output voltage.

@James_Luscher the kit came from china, so it was originally set to 220 volts, but I switched it back to 110, still nothing.

Again, need to see the wiring job

@julian_melton the bed power lines may need to be stripped. Also make sure it is not the middle plug and the right plug is good. If it is the right plug, make sure it has voltage.

@C_Ace if you are talking about the green plugs in the upper right hand corner, the one on the left is for the printer bed, the one in the middle is empty, and the one on the right is for the extruder. Is that correct? They’re all getting voltage I just tested.

That’s a different board then mine. So you may want to see if you can find the schematics to make sure you have them plugged in the right spot

@C_Ace I found a video on youtube with the same printer as mine. I wired it the same and his worked. Idk whats wrong

When I switched mine from 220 to 110 the switch broke and NO power went to the system. I opened the power supply and soldered across the appropriate points on the board for 110.
Not saying that yours is broken(!) but perhaps something else to look at if the problem persists. When the printer doesn’t heat up is the PS voltage still OK ?

@James_Luscher yes, when the printer won’t heat up the power supply is still provider power (as long as I tested it correctly lol)

I got my printer in December. It looks to me like you are missing the reprap board that goes on top of the arduino board. I can’t see where you connected the power supply to the reprap board. See the printer build manual on this site -https://reprapguru.com/resources/ page 54
