@Marcus_Wolschon It looks like project Tango is just for mapping environments. It doesn’t seem to do well with intricate features, it’s made to just capture the boundaries of open spaces.

The current development tablet uses structured light (similar to Kinect V1). That means it has a minimum distance and a low resolution.
The Lenovo has a Time of Flight sensor (similar to Kinect V2) that adjusts the pulse-length (something Kinect can’t) to capture things that are very near and very far as needed and reports the pulse-length used for each pixel, so you can replace coarse points with precise ones in your cloud.
The Tango API gives you access to the unmeshed point cloud. So you are not limited to what you can do with the point cloud on the phone in real time but can use existing software to mesh it post-mortem.
