I designed and built this custom printer.
12" x 12" heated bed
E3d hot end
J-plastic bearings
Dual Roton 10mm stainless z threads
Fully enclosed
Ramps 1.4 with better drivers
Marlin, simplify 3d
BOM cost around $1100 or so. I’ll release the list and files soon.
Just starting to get things dialed in.
Great , looks good. It will be great if you could share the STL files . thanks
@Andrew_Radovich_BadW You must do short clip to show us how it prints
Looks like you got some Z wobble going on
Yes. The z rod in front needs to be better aligned and I may add two more smooth rods up front
@Mike_Kelly_Mike_Make , 2 more guide rails ordered. I have lm10uu bearings sitting around I can use for now but I need to find some more plastic ones
Generally z ribbing is a function of misalignment on the threaded rods. Reinforcement can help but it doesn’t cure it
Interesting that it’s different from the Eustathios in using linear bearings and not bushings, perhaps a cheap ball screw from aliexpress would help the Z axis- looking forward to seeing the BOM
I used high end roton trapezoidal lead screws but I know my alignment is a hair off on the back and a bit more on the front. I’ll try to fix that while I wait on the parts. If it fixes with just alignment, I’ll use the extra parts for the next printer
Found part of my problem. I updated the rear z axis bearing holders, which bumped things out by 8mm. I forgot to compensate on the front z axis motor holder position, so it was 8mm off. New one printing now.
