I designed the world’s best tablet stand on my Up! Plus 3D printer, using ABS.

Recently I’ve been trying to master PLA (less warping, nice colours), but struggled with getting parts separated from support material.

As you can see, Plinth has lots of flat surfaces, but here’s what I found out:

  1. cut your models up on the CAD so as to build them with minimal supports, printing important face down onto thick sheet of acrylic.
  2. where supports are necessary, pause the printer, paint the top of the support with spit (yes, spit), leave to dry a minute or two, then resume.
