I didn’t like the disadvantage of my printer, that the hotend is mounted under the carrier. I want to change my hotend fast. So i made it to  All it takes are 8 magnets!

Next step to replace the cables too ?

I tried it, but struggling with the ±2A for the heater… Fan and thermistor is no problem.

I think magnets can send current - or create separate screws that will connect on touch (maybe with small springs),
Or use some connector that is more standard, but you have something like that already.

Pogo pins for power maybe? They should be sufficient for the thermistor at least

Didn’t apple do a magnetic charge connector for their laptops? Copy that, it’s more than capable of 2A.

Not bad. I’d have sort of distinguishing element between the two 3D printed parts so you don’t accidentally mount the extruder backwards or facing the side although I doubt it matters much. How difficult is it to unmount?

@Adam_Steinmark The magnets aren’t holding in any other position then the shown one. I alligned them to do so. To unmount, i pull sidewards by the coolingblock, it releases way before any damage would be done to the Hotend. Future versions will have a lever/grip for easier unmounting anyways.

@Rene_Jurack how did you mount magnets to plastic. Any glue or tight fit?

@Mateusz_Perlak They are glued with superglue. But the setting of the glue should happen with both halfs snapped together, so that the magnets could align themselfs perfectly. If you glue the magnets in without aligning them to the counter-magnets, the holdingforce may be reduced significantly.
