I don’t know if everyone have already chosen their main software. I’m a heavy user of Fusion 360 from Autodesk and would like to recommend it since it’s free. For anyone considering TinkerCad, 123D Design or Fusion 360, this video might help you make a wiser decision.
Anyone know about a (free) software to convert pretty dense STL-files (say 50k-2000k triangles) into NURBS?

Does FreeCAD handle files that big, given enough ram?
That would not just be free but also free.
As i understand, fusion 360 is just a free trial.
@Stephanie_A it’s free for non commercial use.
Thanks Anton, I had been meaning to start learning Fusion but put it off. It’s a much more powerful program than Sketchup but longer learning curve. Like it so far though.

Fusion 360 doesn’t sound that stable.
I tried it but since the CAM module doesn’t support the A,B and C axis and only X,Y an Z I gave up on it.
Fusion 360 is awesome. We even use it for all our machined parts on our Printrbot cncs and our tormach
Fusion360 will convert STL files with 10K polygons or less into BRep, if that helps…it’s not 2M, though!
@Nick_Kloski so does my cheap CAD system.
@Marcus_Wolschon fusion360 is free, if that counts as cheap
The argument was that nowadays, with the widespread avaliability of 3D scanners, this feature is hardly something special anymore.
