I don’t know what you guys and girls are using out there to do your drawings and this is probably an “egg sucking” post but I just downloaded and installed DraftSight from Dassault Systems FOR FREE! Its 2D CAD Software with many of the features of the very expensive Autocad package. Worth a look for those trying to find a good drawing package of much cheapness.

I love draftsight. But I still miss some features (like font to path conversation). It’s still a great tool and I use it daily on linux. There is a 3D mode too…
Is there now?.. Where would I find that bad boy hidden then? I’m new to this software, can you tell!
from the mainmenu, select View-> constrained orbit. In commandline type ROLLVIEW and use mouse to roll your view. Type -V O T to return to 2D (short for -Views, Ortographic, Top. U can even draw in 2D and 3D in a second window.
Quite honestly Draftsight is very good for dxf output, I’ve not used it for 3d though, I use Solidworks😎
I am a huge fan of draft sight… Not as efficient as autocad but still good
Had it for a while now. If you’re more into 3d there is Delcam Powershape which is free as well. Have to admit though for 3D work I find it hard to go past Sketchup. Its just so easy to use.
yeah, I use Draftsight for 2D stuff, all commands are the same, command structure the same. I’m an old AutoCad release11 man, and the key stroke commands all work, so happy bunny.
