I finally caved and mounted my extruder directly on top of the effector of #takai-san… Sigh… 1000mm+ Bowden tubes just we’re never ment to be.:joy:

@kenneth_rooks it’s spam bots. – I got rid of it. And I must say holy moses what a frankenstein of a printer you’ve got there!

Hahaha, and i enjoyed every twist of every ziptie :-p

Is that that… wood sticks for arms? :thinking:

@Ryan_Carlyle Hehehehehe poplar wood yep. Had too much flex with the standard carbon stuff

Nice

Tkz

It looks abominable but under the hood, Duet, Titan and Volcano nozzle. Incredible.

@kenneth_rooks you mean you have mounted your extruder motor on your hotend, effectively giving you an direct drive extruder. Is this type of extruder not a little bit heavy for an delta?

@ChPech nice catch!

@Christian_Schulz nope, there’s a large separation between the hotend and motor. Just hard to tell from the photo. Yep I would normally agree that the weight is too much, but to compensate I just slowed down acceleration, and instantaneous speed numbers in firmware. Given the unique nature of this build, I’ve found through trial and error to have less problems with the hystersis effect of my original 1500mm-ish Bowden tubes.

I use those green garden stakes from Lowes and Home Depot. They have steel tubes in them. You just need to chop them to the same length and peel the plastic off of them. How long are your rods? The green stakes are about 3 feet long.

Off the to of my head, 2.5 ft to 3 ft. Can’t remember right now. I’ll double check in a couple hours.

Some people hang their extruder motor. This is not a suggestion. Only an observation.

I had heard of these, I was concerned I was already pulling too much weight, but now I think I can pull more. May look into those in the future for further mods… On this sleeper printer :sunglasses::yum::sunglasses::rofl:

@NathanielStenzel I saw that too. Looks Kool and I tried it. I just flubbed the installation and ended up with what u see here. Haha

The green garden stakes may work for you then. I posted once with specifics. It has been a while. I also made a thingiverse design that involved them. I do not think you use u-joints and I feel like their is a need for revision of the design so I will not recommend using the design for you. The plastic flexes too much and eventually gives wiggle room. That is why it needs revising.

That thing is hideous yet awesome, after watching it being constructed on your pictures it seems like it was a lot of fun making it, gotta take that trip myself

@Jimmy_Latouche yes it was. Learned tons in the process.
