I finally got a little bit of time to mess with the settings for the printer I use at work. I think it looks a lot better now. I did make 2 visual changes from the first test to the last. I changed the radius so the top isn’t flat and I removed the brim so the bottom would look nice. As for the settings, I messed with retraction, re-prime, coasting and tempature. The prints are coming out pretty solid and I even got rid of most of the Z seam. Plus I tweaked my bed height so I get really good bed adhesion and very little elephant foot. This part is about 1.25" tall so there isn’t much surface area for this part to stick, yet it’s about impossible to get off when the bed is hot. You have to use a sharp blade and hit it pretty hard, even without a brim. It’s not perfect but it’s good enough for what I do.
Ran across a tip (forgot where) that works for me…
Put a small (~0.3mm) radius on the bottom edge, to cancel the “foot” on prints without a raft.
it is still a little overextruding …
@Preston_Bannister that’s not a bad idea actually.
Also, raising the first layer Z height a tiny bit might help with both the “elephant foot” (haven’t heard that before
) and the difficult removal.
