I finally got fed up with the Anet A8 wobble and other problems related

I finally got fed up with the Anet A8 wobble and other problems related to the frame and Z-axis. So I screwed the frame directly to the enclosure on the top right. Then I installed some much needed shaft collars. I also drilled and drove screws into the base of the vertical shafts because of the play. Originally, the base was .015" wider than the top. Now it’s .001" different. My next plan is to make some new Z-axis sides that actually match the carriage dimension. Mine vary almost .100" from one side to the other. I’m kinda surprised it will push all the way to one side.
But I do have a question about this awesomely straight and smooth print I have done. I will be dealing with the pulling issue of the 5 pound roll I bought from MatterHackers at a later date. But it has an odd buildup all the way up the side from where it shifts to the next level. What setting(s) affect that issue?

Cura sometimes does that when you print without infill. You might have to either modify the design to have an inside an an outside or try a different slicer.

Cura does a few things that leave a little to be desired. I’ve been thinking about taking the $149 plunge and buying Simplify3d. It’s a difficult thing to do because it costs almost as much as the original purchase price of the printer.

I’ve found Simplyfy3d to be an excellent investment, if you purchase it they do offer a 2 week full refund trial. They also offer a 10% discount if your a uni student apparently, though you have to contact them via their contact form.

Is that one perimeter thick? If so, try vase mode. I have not used it myself, but I believe it is for such situations. Of course then, I also heard of a seem artifact that some people have when using vase mode. Cura has vase mode. I do not know what other slicers have it.

How about a retract setting?

@NathanielStenzel I drew a shape and set the top and bottom to zero and the sides at .4mm. I havent played with any of the retract settings, so I’m not sure what to change to affect that problem.

‘set the top and bottom to zero’?
