I finally have the steps/mm dialed in on the X and Y axis. Just need to get the Z axis set correctly so I can start using the spindle and test the CNC portions of LaserWeb. My steps for X and Y ended up being 133.5 steps/mm at 1/8 micro stepping. Sounds very smooth and quiet. Had an issue with the belt skipping a step every once in a while, but playing with the belt tension fixed that. Time to read through the VFD manual for my spindle so I can get it hooked up and start making wood chips with laserweb!
Awesome. Can’t wait to see you up & running. Have fun.
I am still confused at how I ensed up with th133.5 steps/mm. Alll the math I did was way odff of this number.
@funinthefalls Could friction play a part in the steps/mm not matching the math?
not by about 80 steps/mm
@funinthefalls ah yeah, I saw in my smoothie config for the k40 it was about 157.5 steps per mm.
