I finished assembling my Printrbot Simple kit last night but now I'm having connection

I finished assembling my Printrbot Simple kit last night but now I’m having connection issues. Flashing the firmware fixed it. Now it’s giving me checksum errors. Do you have to reflash your Printrbot often? What rev do you use?

I’ve never changed the firmware that came on mine, and never had connection issues, so I’m no help here.

What are you connecting to? Windows/Mac/Linux? Version?

Maybe the man himself @Brook_Drumm can point you to some resource for assistance?

I’m on Mac w/ Mavericks. I can connect after reflashing, but I get this checksum error:

Now I can connect to Repetier, but a new problem has started. I can send a few manual commands successfully and then they start to queue up. The console log says things like:

Yep. I’m well out. I’m running Win7 w/Repetier-Host. Sorry no help.

Sorry, I didn’t change fw, I am using repetier in Windows 7 as well.

Have you verified all your serial port settings match. I don’t have a printer bot, but I had some settings adjusted incorrectly between repeteir, Windows devices and arduino. Messed with it so much, not sure what fixed it

OS X occasionally does that. In particular, you need to make sure your Mac Does Not Sleep. See settings-power. If you want to close the lid while printing, install NoSleep.

Mostly stops it for me.

The regular checksum mismatches do sound like a serial port issue - 8n1 v 7e1 etc.

It worked in pronteface w/o issue. I noticed that’s at a slower speed.

Reflashed again and now it all works. Just made my first printed pile of goo!

Awwww… we all remember our first pile of goo!

Progress. I’ve got my calibration pyramid printing almost to half of it’s height before I have to kill it. The filament keeps slipping out of alignment with the hobbed gear and roller. Looks like it’s not completely centerd. Finally the hobbed gear started slipping against the stepper. I guess the set screw loosened up.

Still. half a pyramid. Progress. Clearly this is not a hobby for the impatient.

@Joshua_Marinacci I eventually found I needed to move the drive gear slightly off alignment with the bearing to get it to work properly.

@Jasper_Janssen I must have got lucky, i just assembled it so it was lined up.and it worked

Yeah. I figured out how to adjust it without taking off the whole assembly. I have the cars some slack and took off the stepper motor instead.

I meant to write: I gave the cables some slack.
