I finished my first commission! From just a photo I modeled and printed this. The client wanted to assemble and paint it himself, so it’s just taped and socketed together.
Just curious, but how much would you all charge for a project like this?

(Price of plastic * 1.5) + (print time * $10/hour) + (modeling time * $20/hour) if it were me.
Modeling $20 hour + $.50 per cubic centimeter
@John_Bump that’s like… 2 grand… 0_o
Why so much for print time?
Also, not including support and a part that botched, it weighs 1.5 kg exactly.
Machines wear out, so you should charge something. $10 may be pretty high, though. I’m basing this on how I’ve billed cnc work in the past, which is pretty much (expected lifetime/replacement price). I’m not sure what the expected lifetime is for your printer, though.
It’s made by Dremel and has a 1-year warranty that I’m planning on calling in near the end of that month. But I might consider charging power*2 for print time…
It’s a warhammer BTW.
Upload your model to Sculpteo, you will see their price.
I am on 3d hubs and make xzy. I charge 25 cents a cubic centimeter and a minimum $5 startup fee. Solid works for $12.99 an hour. You could probably double all of that and be ok
@Griffin_Paquette xzy?
How do you measure the area of your prints? Do you give estimates before you print?
@Robert_Gorman_GoGoCh the website is called makexyz. I live in the US so if you don’t it might not be available but to answer your question yes. It takes an stl and generates the volume of it at 1:1 scale. Then it gives you a price estimate at whatever specified cost you want to charge
Definitely going to check it out!
