I got my PB-Simple dialed in much better,

I got my PB-Simple dialed in much better, thanks to your comments. This is 0.3mm layers, PLA, fan on, 185C, 25% infill, 3 shells.

I seem to have clogged my extruder because, when I tried a bigger print, the motor just clicks without pushing the filament. I couldn’t push it by hand, either. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned the entire path the best I can (filament moves through it cold, and I can see light through the tip). I’m going to up the temp to 190C for my next try (tomorrow; too late tonight).

You also look to be overextruding a bit. You’ll want to probably turn your e-steps-per-mm down a little.

I’ve been having a similar problem. I find that the clicking means that the gear has stripped a spot of the filament. I haven’t figured out a resolution to the issue yet.

@David_Tarlau Nope, no stripping. The stepper is trying to move, but can’t. The knurled knob (what do you call that thing?) is biting well into the filament.
@ThantiK Thanks. Any tips on how much to adjust by?

@Carlton_Dodd M92 E[stepspermm] – then M500 to save to eeprom. But, I have no idea what your esteps are at currently, so have no idea what to give you as a range to start out with.

Definitely over extruding. Your top layers are too hot, causing deformations too. You need a delay or print slowing or a stronger cooling fan.

PID tuning might help but if you’re not extruding on big prints something else is up. Tuned the current on the extruder stepper? If it’s too low you’ll get clicking past a certain speed. Once you’ve done that, have a go at the steps detailed here, particularly the extruder calibration: http://richrap.blogspot.co.nz/2012/01/slic3r-is-nicer-part-2-filament-and.html?m=1

Q-Bert!

I had clicking and it was the extruder gear slipping on the axle.

All: You guys are a great help! I followed the tutorial @Tim_Rastall linked (my filament is a consistent 1.85mm!), and calibrated my extruder rate as suggested by @ThantiK and @Stephanie_A (yup, ~6% too high). Between the two, I was over-extruding by ~12%!
New calibration step printing now and looking good. I think I need to drop the temp a couple of degrees, and maybe change the retraction from 1mm to 2mm since I’m getting just a little stringing.
THANK YOU TO ALL!
