I guess my prints are sticking a little to well, lol

I have this problem as well.

I printed myself a razer holder to scrape under the corners and lift with leverage to free parts. Most people that print often I see use painter tools, spacklers or whatever they are called.

What works for me is i use one of those snap off blades. the small ones 3/8 wide. I slide / slice it under on side enough the get a paint scraper under there well and push the scrapper under the part and it comes up great. I destroy the tape every time…

Using a razor blade with a handle, If I am careful I can generally get 5 or more small prints or anywhere from 1-3 larger prints before tape comes off. Usually knicks at the edges are what gets it, so aim for the very thick, like 3’ tape.

jupp - been there. Patients dude ^^ And a japanese spatula

oh snap

I have probably done a total of about 20 prints/attempts on my PrintrBot Simple (more failed attempts than prints). I get good adhesion, and my trusty pocket knife has been great for removing prints.

I hate tape. It usually sticks too well for me. I prefer to use glass with hair spray. (big prints stick ok without it)
Heated bed helps too (gen1 printrbot +)

Does anyone know if pla will stick to glass with abs “juice” on it?

setting your initial z height slightly higher should make it stick slightly less too.

+Kaiden Campbell I’ve had mixed results with abs juice and pla. (both directions, too sticky and coming loose.) it could be that my application technique is crappy.
I resisted the hair spray for a long time, but it really works really well. Once cooled, the models come off easily, but good stickiness during printing. I am heating the bed to 70 C so ymmv if you have an unheated bed.

@Kevin_Osborn my heat bed just burned out yesterday, I have a new one on it’s way

I second the hairspray. Easy to apply and comes off with a little acetone.

I just replace the tape after every print. I usually remove the piece by peeling up the tape. Blue tape is cheaper than the time required to reprint.

Does the brand of hairspray matter or can it just be any kind?

Borosilicate glass and hairspray for me…

Aqua net super or extreme hold.

I use the cheapest kind. My GF recommended the strongest (I think they call it extra hold) and it works the best.
