I had this for the second time with Simplify3D. I’d started an e-Nable Raptor Reloaded print breakfast time, lunch time I find this on screen.
If you get it DON’T answer it until the print is done. The code clearly uses multiple threads, the print will finish okay as long as the main program isn’t killed.

Update your drivers…

@Rick_Zehr Windows 7 is supported by Microsoft for 10 years after release. As of today they may have stopped selling it. It does not mean that it’s unsupported.

Windows 8 USB drivers are a nightmare, so no thanks, I’ll wait for 9…

@Mark_MARKSE_Emery 10. They’re skipping 9 because some legacy programs checked for the string “Windows 9” to look for Windows 98 and Windows 95

Doh! Nice one MS

Windows 7 gets extended support until 2020. Basically security fixes and such. I’m not in any hurry to replace those computers. I’ve not had any crashes or other problems with Windows 8 though.

Depending on how the Win 10 migration goes they may patch 7 past 2020. They’ve stopped selling the Home version a few months back but I can still buy OEM Pro versions at retail and as part of site licenses. Free retail/mainstream support ended today but large sites and volume license still have whatever support they contracted. Retail users can pay for per incident support in addition to no cost patches for the next five years or so.

The reason they skipped 9 is due to marketing. The Win 9x lookup is a myth spawned on Reddit. The archtecture is completely different, the API is different. I don’t know that anything written with the Win 95/98 SDK would run on Win 7 or 8 anyway. And the odds of someone using almost 20 year old retail software are slim and none.
