I have a bunch of questions as I am slowly gathering parts of my #SCOUTcorexy design so here they are:

  1. for a non-heated bed setup would a 12V/200W power source be enough? Frankly I have no idea if the heater cartriges for the enstop are 12 or 24V but for the later heated bed I am planning I will be using a separate power source. Is that ok/wise?
2)should I run the enstops cables on another route than the steppers cables and should I place my endstops far away from the steppers and the steppers’ cables for minimum interference/false positives risk?
  2. I am trying to have all the electronics (mottors, endstops) as close to each oter and to the control board/ power source as possible to use the least amount of wire and decrease the need to route wires in funny ways/etc. I’ve heard about twisting wires to decrease noise but don’t know much about that. Anything you could suggest? Like what wire gauge for Nema17/2A, heater, fans, etc…

Sorry for being so random, will have many more questions but trying to take them in small batches

Thanks.

Ok, just learned that the Amperage is the number one would want to check not the Wattage itself, the Amperage for the 12V circuit that is. This particular ATX power source has 8A on the 12V so it won’t cut it besides testing motion…

I would agree with @Nathan_Walkner … Heated bed is practically mandatory unless all you plan to print is TPU and small-to-medium PLA prints. Aside from reducing warping, it also makes awesome print surfaces like PEI work properly.

My immediate goal is to learn, to hack and to break … a heated bed and a proper power 24V supply and the expensive electronics can come later… right now I have ramps/mega, a random ATX I’ve found around and I’ll just use these as a testbed.
