I have a couple of issues for the group regarding Laserweb4.

I have a couple of issues for the group regarding Laserweb4. I’m running the latest version and using grbl 1.1f. The first is that I cannot get the laser to test fire. Jogging appears to work fine. I’ve checked over the forums thinking I may be missing a setting, but cannot figure out what it might be. The second issue is regarding adding a file to draw. I’ve tried dragging several different .bmp and .jpg files to the drop area as well as on the grid. I end up with the picture filling the entire window and can no longer see anything relating to Laserweb. The only thing I can do at that point is close the window and re-open Laserweb. Lastly, is there somewhere in LW4 as in LW3 to set the power and fire time of the laser for testing?

I hope this is the correct forum to post in? I’ve noticed that several of the moderators help on multiple forums. Please let me know if I should post elsewhere. I may note that I have an Eleksmaker 2500mw setup that I believe is using the Mana board.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Michael

Take a look to this manual.

I am also having an issue with getting LW4 to fire the laser, runs the gcode fine. I have ran files from LW4 and it worked fine but as of yesterday it doesn’t seem to burn. Using smoothie 4xc, pin 2.4 open drain with one wire to L on right connector. External 24v and 5v power(not using LPS limited ones). Previously I didn’t have to add a m code for turning on/off laser beam, has that been changed?

We didn’t change anything on that part. Check that you have M3 in the startcode.

For the laser test button to work, you need to configure “tool test power” and “tool test duration” under settings/gcode.

Did you open the documents with the “Add Document” button? You cannot drag documents from outside of LW4.

Thanks, Claudio. I did not have M3 in the startcode. I had configured tool test power and duration. I believe I did try the Add Document button, but will check everything and try again. Hopefully that will do it.

Got the laser connected. M3 IN start. When I click on Add Document on the Cam tab, an explorer window opens. I click a file, the window closes, but nothing appears in LW

Still cannot get the laser to fire with the laser test button

@Michael_Shannon That’s unusual. Are you sure that the machine works correctly?
If you have a “weak laser” button on the machine, make sure it’s switched off.

The “laser test” button just sends the gcodes for switching on the laser, waiting the duration and switching the laser off. That should allways work, if the machine is correctly configured and connected.

Pleas check the configuration stepps from: http://cncpro.co/index.php/31-documentation/initial-configuration/firmware/grbl-1-1e

I had it working correctly on LW3, but was having issues with the frame. Between disassembling, correcting the issue, and reassembling I’ve bought a win10 tablet to run it. I figured since LW3 was on the way out I would go ahead and make the switch to LW4. I also installed Grbl 1.1f on this one where I was using 1.1e. Also, tried last night and still cannot get LW4 to Add documents of any type in. I’m about at the point of switching back to LW3 to test it. Can they both be on the same PC? I checked the settings and think I have them sorted out, but will go through it again.

Yes, you can have both installed on the same PC. I think it’s a good idea to try it with LW3, so you can verify that the hardware and grbl works correctly. If that works, you can test LW4 again. With the binaries, this is usually a 5 minutes setup.

Thanks. Will load LW3 tonight and give it a try.

Loaded LW3 and mostly got it working. Jogging works as well as the Laser Test fire. I opened an image without issue. The laser moves as it is on the screen, but the laser never turns on to burn the image. So close. Any idea what I am missing?

Got LW3 loaded. Test fire is now working on both. Can load image in LW3 and laser moves as if burning, but never turns on. LW4 still cannot Add Documents. Windows browser will open and I can select file, but will never appear on screen. Wondering if some sort of bug at this point? A fresh install in order?

Reinstalled LW4, bit still cannot open a document. If I could do that I think it would work now. LW3 is finally burning. Still need to tweak the settings, but somewhat pleased at this point. Turned out I had M4S0 in gcode start. Changed it to M3S0 and it started working fine. I’m wondering if the tablet I’m trying to run LW4 on could be the issue? It keeps crashing on me with both. I think it is running out of memory. Are there any minimum specs/guidelines for hardware? I plan to load both as currently configured on a laptop and try.

in LW4 make sure you have show documents checked under the main view area, i ticked mine off to view the code and freaked myself out for a while before noticing. Hopefully its as easy as my mistake

Thanks. I will check that tonight. It would be nice if it were that easy!

Loaded LW3 and LW4 on more robust laptop with same settings from last night. I think part of the issue are the specs of the tablet. It was crashing a lot, but the laptop crashed twice as well. Was able to open and see documents on LW4. Posting a couple pics. Laser seems to be skipping sections. I tried adjusting the feed rate thinking it was too fast, but that made it worse. Any idea of the cause?
