I have a E3D clone hot end,

I have a E3D clone hot end, I am pretty sure it has a Teflon lined heat break. Can I just swap it out for an all steel heat break?

Thoughts and Suggestions Please.

I was unable to do PLA without the Teflon lining (after the initial push thru, the filament would always get stuck), but could do ABS. But perhaps designs have changed since I tried around a year ago.

What do you want to print that absolutely needs > 245C temps?

I am wanting to try some PETG and that ranges from 230-260C, Maybe 245C would be enough ?! Have any of you tried PETG at 245c or less?

On that thought, what is the max temp you can actually go with a teflon liner?

240-245 is fine for printing most PETG. You can go a little bit higher with PTFE but you risk premature wear the higher you go.

Thanks for the details and I do appreciate the input, it helps a great deal getting this type of detail to a question. I am thinking that some genuine E3D equipment will be in my future.

@David_Sherwood wow cool- good to know thanks for sharing that- maybe that is the secret to getting the all-metal to work with PLA.
