I have a lot of problem printing this piece. There’s always the same problem in the same place of the piece, regardless of how is printed the piece. If I rotate the piece, the problem is rotated too. It’s seems that there’s lack of plastic.
I tried several changes, like change extrusion temperature, flow, slice with slic3r instead of cura, diferent filament brand, diferent print speeds … even tried with another STL I found in thingiverse …
Any idea ? I wasted 1Kg of filament …
Partial clog? I’d try with a new nozzle unless you are 100% sure you don’t have a partial clog. You can of course attempt to clean the one you have but they don’t cost much.
I use a kitchen torch (think creme brûlée) and a pair of needle nose pliers to ‘Burn the Crap’ out of nozzles to clean them up. 4-5 times it’s worked great…
Definitely take a look at your print speed, I’ve had similar under-extrusion when printing too fast (but only in some parts of the object, like you’re seeing).
Though the problem doesn’t really look all that bad, honestly. Are you not planning on painting it? You could easily fill those gaps and blend it in with the paint.
To clarify, the problem is only with this piece and only the same part. I can successfully print other pieces. I tried to use other stl and other colors/filament brands and unsuccessful. A problem in the STL can be the culprit?
I agree, those long straight lines demands the highest output of filament since the machine constantly moves at the highest feed rate. And that is also where a partial clog would be most noticeable.
I had a problem just like this once and spent hours trying to solve it. It turned out it was a simple loose grub screw on the extruder drive gear and it would slip but only under certain circumstances.
I’ve actually tried to work on these STL files before. They are littered with face errors and problems. I wouldn’t take it to heart.
