I have a printrbot simple and having an issue of the filament binding when it is feeding into the hot end. You can hear it click and slip on the serrated gear. What could be causing this? clogged hot end or the hot end not hot enough?

What type of filament and what print temp? Personally though it definitely sounds like a jam

Just PLA, not sure if the hotend is getting hot enough. I want to order a new UBIS hot end but I gave up trying to order it on there website. What a pain in the ass.

What temperature are you printing at?

Your plastic may be absorbing moisture. This happens when left out for longer periods of time. The plastic expands. Sometimes you can cut it back until you get an unaffected line.

Is it one specific spool, or is it happening with multiple rolls?

I think I might have had a clog. I printed some parts in PLA and its not binding. I have a feeling that my heater element is not getting hot enough. I keep having to increase my temp settings.
