I have a Prusa i3 that I am looking to get a new hotend for. Looking for any suggestions and reviews. Looking to get a really good one and will spend the money for it if necessary. Thanks
E3d v6. Look no further
I would second the E3D, although I also love my Hexagon hotend.
I added an E3D to my Folgertech I3, and changed to a Bowden setup and my prints are really clean. Just trying to figure out a good mounting option for the stepper / Bowden on the acrylic frame.
Never had the e3d but I know people swear by them. I use a ubis and it is awesome too. Not sure if someone has made a part for the ubis mounting system.
Also supporting an E3D v6 ($85ish) for a good all-purpose hot end. Consider a the v6 Lite ($35ish?) if only planning on printing cooler temperature materials like PLA, though it might also work safely up to 250 for ABS.
Just saw the offerings of the Pico hot end and their new hybrid / modular hot end that looks promising. Might consider it for a 2-3 hot end nozzle system since it is so small. Also seems to be another micro hot end in development from DeltaPrintr.com.
Wait… Isn’t that 35£ as opposed to $35 for the v6 lite?
If you think about E3D clones, beware the crappy milling cleanup which will make your hot end insides jam a bunch. You get what you pay for.
no its 35$ Im pretty sure http://www.smw3d.com/e3d-lite6/
@Joe_Spanier heh. It seems so.
I think the lite was aimed specifically at the clone market, hence the price. The quality of E3D for just slightly more than a knock off.
Sounds like the E3D v6 is the way to go. Thank you all. I was looking at the geeetech GT9S but it got mixed reviews.
