I have a slow hotend problem, it took 5 minutes to reach 200c.
Im using 12v 10A power supply connected to 5A port ramps 1.4, single extruder with no heatbed.
I already wrap my heater block with tape a ceramic wool but still only help a little bit.
Im losing patiences, any guess the culprit? Thanks in advance

Have you done a pid autotune?

Check the resistance of the heater. You might have a 24 volt heater running at 12 volts.

@Pascal_Paetzold not yet, does it help a lot?

@Pieter_Koorts  its 12v cartridge

@Greg_son yeah very likely but a multimeter would make sure.

Make sure your heater is 40w and not the eBay junk I just replaced my 2 weeks agow from eBay one and from 5 min to 170 now I’m getting to 210 in less the one

Most people covered it but:

  1. ensure that you do indeed have a 12V heater as the resistance is drastically different between 12 and 24V models
  2. make sure it’s actually a high watt heater. 40 watts is plenty.
  3. make sure the wires going to the heater are a lower AWG so that the current can flow properly.

With a 10A PSU and based on your wiring I’m assuming no heated bed, I see no reason for it to take hat long to heat up.

As well as the above, make sure you’re actually getting 12V out of the PSU when you have the hot end on.

La fuente no es la adecuada. Solo para el hotend necesita 11A y 5A más para la hotbed

I ordered a new heater cartridge and make surw6 its 12v, install it and boom! 200c in less than a minute! Thanks everyone for the hints!
