I have been working on a stepper add on board to turn stepper motors into servos. I know that Mechaduino and others have done this before but I was not happy with existing solutions and decided to create my own, ah the beauty of open source and open hardware.
I started with the Mechaduino idea and expanded upon it a bit by adding a LCD to the design such that it is easy to calibrate and see what is going on. Additionally I have rewrote the firmware from the ground up fixing many issues. I am now wondering what features people would like in the servo system that I am missing?
I have not gotten much up on my website yet, I do have blog going through the design choices I have made here: http://misfittech.net/blog/
Of course I have a few boards for sale if people are interested: http://misfittech.net/product/nano-zero-stepper/
I am also working on higher current version for NEMA23 motors.
I have a few video on youtube, here is one where I connected to pick and place head, I plan on using the controller to detect when head hits PCB by setting the force/current to motor:
Thanks
