I have failed… Blew my board drawing too much current:joy: have to buy a new one and try again.:disappointed_relieved::disappointed_relieved:

What board did you blow?

Mks base 32bit board

What were you trying to power?

Heat bed.

How many amps and what voltage are you running at?

It’s a custom sized one. It worked then …magic smoke dragon. I’m going to have to go SSR next time.

And a better designed Smoothie-powered board that comes with English speaking support might be in order (I make such a board and it supports 20 amps heated bed.

And I can tell you Ray’s boards are well supported and work well.

@raykholo I wish that I could get a smoothie board to better support my needs and the original producersđŸ˜… but at triple the price of a mks base…that’s just not possible for me. I definitely exceed the limitations of my crappy board tho. It was one of those late nights when the kids are asleep and you have to put in progresses while you have peace in the house…one more test before bed…and boom!! Magic smoke dragon.

Here are some updated pics for those that were following my progress:https://goo.gl/photos/Aas6PnVAwRnWPpYM6

I’m a 3rd party (Cohesion3D) not affiliated with the original smoothieboard. We’ve got a mini pcb that’ll be available for pre-order this week for under $100.

I think I saw something about that a few on this community and @raykholo I applaud your efforts! It’s too late for my current build, but my next one will be a CNC machine and I will look forward to scouting your board and any other that may be around at that time.

Under 100 is a bit more affordable for sure

There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap board, cause you will buy 5 before they work. I learned this the hard way. Buy something that is for sure gonna work the first time even if it means stretching the budget. I can second @raykholo boards. Truly well engineered and supported. Bought my first smoothieware powered board from him and now he has me hooked.

@kenneth_rooks for when you’re ready, the Cohesion3D ReMix is available for sale and the mini we discussed are up for pre-order at http://cohesion3d.com Good luck with your builds and happy holidays!
