I have found some time to print a few more frame pieces for the monster delta. After throwing the heated bed on it looks like everything is lining up as expected. Waiting on a new roll of filament and M4 screws to finish out frame assembly.
Never realized how annoying it is to get metric screws in the states till having to purchase new ones for this build.
Shame is I grew up in a hardware/industrial supply store we had a basketball court size room for just nuts bolts and screws with a metric selection from 2mm up to 20mm various grades and material from socket head cap screws to stainless pan heads to brass countersunk heads sad part is my grandfather didn’t think I wanted to carry the torch when in fact I would have loved to carry it
Would love to open one some day @Alex_Krause . Even the local old ace hardware that was up the road was such a great store for this kind of stuff. Lowes and Home Depot killed em off. There is just something you can’t replace about a real hardware store.
If my grandfather wouldn’t have sold it there would have been no competition Menards and home depot didn’t have the availability or selection we carried and with qty of 1 purchases the local addage was if you can’t find it at Cope’s you we show you where to get it… Only 1 in 75 sales were lost to outside sources, but we knew where to send folks to keep it local in mainstreet buisnesses keeping folks away from big box stores
And a few pennies extra keeps their stock on the shelf, and they always have that one guy there that can point you to the exact spot where you need to go without wasting time following a highschool age kid on a wild goose chase thru the store… No offense @Griffin_Paquette you are leagues ahead of your age
Boltdepot is good. Also Trimcraftaviationrc.com - better prices of exactly the stuff you’re looking for.
And finally, there’s always McMaster if you need something that’s really far out
Amazon carries “Small Parts” too if you need a little something prime’d over. http://Trimcraftaviationrc.com
Looking good,… my parts have started flowing in, just have a feeling that the parts from China are going to take a while due to new year, which I forgot about…
@Ax_Smith-Laffin thanks! I ordered most stuff from the US for this one. Openbuilds was a big part and am very thankful for their quick shipping. I reused a lot of parts from older builds, the motors in particular and some of the smaller bits.
Using @raykholo good old original mini for this. It’s treated me quite well in the past.
McMaster has everything you could possibly want for hardware. Not great when you just need three screws to finish a build, but they’re great for stocking up a few tackle boxes full of bolts to cover all your projects.
@Griffin_Paquette - I could have ordered within Europe for the majority of the parts, it came down to budget, a bit of impatience waiting on Misumi changing my Shipping address and wanting Black Extrusion, which they didn’t have in 2060 in the Economy style. So off to Aliexpress to pick up Extrusion and 700mmx8mm Diameter Rails, which were cheaper than in Europe.
