I have installed LaserWeb3 on my laptop and it looks like it supports STL files. Any tips on using STL files to cut stuff out of a single layer of wood? I tried it and it seemed to move the bit along the perimeter of the work area where it does not need to cut.
Is STL file support going to be implemented in LaserWeb4 or is it already supported and I just missed it?
Well, crap…and here I thought I found the easy button. I can make stuff in OpenSCAD easy enough and turn it into an STL file. I thought I could take those STL files and other STL files and use it in LaserWeb3.
Hmmm…how about height maps?
Can it take height maps or modify gcode to make multiple passes? I wrote python code that can make gcode. I just need to get some bugs out of it which includes some multiple pass cutting bugs.
You could use 123d make to turn the stl into layers

@Saskia_Smits I am not cutting multiple pieces to stack. At least not for most of what I want to do. I want to cut a 2.5D item on a single piece of wood. Thanks for the note for later though.
lw.mesh-slicer is on the road… comming soon
